Love River is a new project launched in 2009 under the umbrella of the Thames Festival. (www.thamesfestival.org)
Love River aims to encourage people to travel by river, to dine out at a riverside restaurant, to visit local Thames-side attractions, to walk on the Thames pathways and join their local boat club.
There are almost one hundred boat clubs on the Thames in London and one hundred and fifty or so places to eat and drink with a river view. The Thames is rich with river events, festivals and riverside attractions. There are passenger boats to take you on a river cruise, and for the walkers, joggers and cyclists, there are riverside paths and walkways on an amazing 78% of the river frontage. No other capital city in the world offers such extensive access to its principal river.
